Hunting & Fishing
For the outdoorsman, Marshall County is a bonanza. Game fishing and sporting are extremely popular. Choose from privately-owned farms, timber company property and TVA managed land for hunting. Private permits are easily obtained and TVA land can be hunted without a permit. (State hunting licenses required for all areas.) Many services are available for the sportsmen and a variety of game are to be found.
Lake Guntersville is known for its crappie and bream and has been rated several times as the top spot for bass fishing in Alabama. The lake is host to several tournaments throughout the year. The sport of bow-shooting is a fast growing activity with spring being the best time for carp and gar. Fishing is permitted all year on Lake Guntersville with no closed season and no size limit. Licenses are required and can be obtained from the Marshall County Courthouse or throughout the county at almost every location that sells bait.
